TIP 1. Don’t Read Too Fast or Slow

The first section of PTE Academic Test starts with “Read Aloud”, and that the scores from this question type will contribute directly to your reading result. Since what you speak has to be correctly interpreted by the computer, reading is extremely tricky. Therefore, you should speak at a normal speed and avoid long pauses or sounds such as “umm…” and “aah…” that can bring your scores down. 

TIP 2. Keep Your Normal Intonation 

Like other languages, English has a system of sounds, stress, and intonation that gives it a rhythm and melody all its own. PTE Academic Score Guide also emphatically points out “using correct intonation” is one of the main skills that the exam tests. However, most people have the misconception that they should speak in an exaggerated accent to impress the computer. This is a huge mistake. Speak in your normal accent and intonation and try to pronounce every word correctly without any unnecessary gaps or pauses.

TIP 3. Manage Time and Set Priorities

Ability to manage time and set priorities are essential to complete PTE Academic Reading Section. After the section starts, you should think of how much time you have each question. Especially, when you deal with the “Multiple Choice Questions” which can prove to be very tricky, try and read them once only and select the most possible option. This way, you can reduce the time taken in completing those tasks. 

Tip 4. Master Individual Question Type Strategically

Both of tasks come with passages which mostly related academic topics, literature and social science. To solve this task, you need accuracy and efficiency. Therefore, don’t spend more than 2 minutes on each task and take care of the logic. Re-Order Paragraphs
